CHVRCHES announce brand new EP, ‘Hansa Session’, recorded at the iconic Berlin studio

Scottish indie-pop sensation CHVRCHES have announced that they will be releasing a new EP, ‘Hansa Session’ later this week. The EP will available digitally on 16th November and the limited 10 inch vinyl edition of the release drops on 14th December. ‘Hansa Session’ follows on from the group’s third LP, ‘Love Is Dead’, released earlier this year, and a slew of epic live performances around the globe.

The new EP was recorded in the iconic Hansa Studios in Germany, where many legendary musicians recorded seminal bodies of work, including David Bowie’s Berlin trilogy and Iggy Pop’s ‘Lust For Life’. 'Hansa Session' will feature new versions of ‘Graffiti’, ‘Miracle’ and ‘Get Out’, as well as fan favourites ‘Heaven/Hell’ and ‘Really Gone’.

CHVRCHES’ Iain Cook explains, “When we had the opportunity to record at Hansa we jumped at it even though we were in the middle of a hectic tour … It is such hallowed ground for me - my heroes Bowie, Depeche, Iggy, Siouxsie, Tangerine Dream, Nick Cave amongst others made arguably their best work in that building - and we hoped that when we went there, we would capture even just a tiny bit of that energy.”

“It was really fun to try to reinterpret the songs and still communicate the messages and emotions with different arrangements,” adds the band’s Lauren Mayberry, "Once an album is out and you're on the road, it's harder to be creative so it's exciting when those opportunities present themselves, and getting to make music in places like Hansa and Bad Robot is really a bucket list thing for all of us.”
